Basso and Brooke A/W '10

This years London Fashion Week brought me to discover a gorgeous new label; Basso and Brooke. Bruno Basso and Christopher Brooke's Autumn/Winter 2010 collection follows on from their stunning Spring collection, reinventing their trademark digitally engineered prints with staple wardrobe pieces. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from the newest collection; a gorgeous panelled long-sleeved mini, and a tasty parka with a fur collar/hood lining.

Mothers Day Weekend

Working in a card shop on busy, fake holidays like Mothers Day makes my existance seem utterly pointless. I would honestly never dream of being as rude to a shop assistant as people were to me this weekend. Man, people can be cranky when they want cards.

Also, i was flicking through More Magazine earlier (not my usual magazine of choice might i add) and saw a photo of Rihannas outfit to the Echo Awards. She wore a bright, emerald green winged jumpsuit by Alexandre Vauthier with pointed nude Louboutins. Apparently she's been getting some stick for it, but personally i think it's gorgeous. The outfit has so much style and personality, and anyone who knows me, knows i can't resist winged clothing.

However, i must say i'm not a fan of her hair when it's flattened; i'm afraid it's cockatoo style all the way in my opinion. Her new single "Rude Boy" makes up for it though, pretty damn saucy!

Vogue Talent Competition 2010

Was flicking through the March Vogue the other day and realised i'd missed the one page i've been waiting for for about a year! The young talent competition is back for 2010 and i have but one month to get my entry together! I've known about it for some time now but never thought to enter, but this year i think i'm going to haver a stab at it, why not? They're asking for three things...

1. To write about a person memory e.g events, place or person. (800 words)

2. To write a feature article e.g cultural review, fashion trend etc. (500 words)

3. To write an opinion piece or polemic e.g person, current affairs, social issues. (500 words).

I think i'll be alright getting started on the second and thrid, but i'm having some issues witht he personal memory bit. I need something that stands out, and to be honest i don't seem to have that many memories worth recording! I've tried twice so far and both have ended up balanced on top of my overflowing bin. Yes, i'm going to have to think long and hard about this one...

A starting point...

So i'm starting a blog...
I need a hobby to help me develop my interest in fashion and my passion for writing, so here it is. I've always been into clothes, i love looking at designers' collections and seeing how clothes are created and how they work on the body. It all amazes me, but of course being a 16 year old girl doesn't quite pay enough to be able to afford such luxuries! So instead i stick to my own territory, the charity shops. I have a bit of a talent for finding some gorgeous pieces, and am partial to a bit of high street too; who isn't?! So i'll try to keep everyone posted, and i hope everything i write isn't just meaningless twaddle :)
